The project

KMY 85 is a revolutionary result of collaboration between Kelly Yachts and the renowned brokers Domenico Avena and Massimo Binnelli, whose primary business regards displacement yachts.
The approach for this yacht differs from the traditional designers project adaptable to markets request.
KMY 85, instead, has minimized the too traditional shape and extreme design, while emphasizing the explorer aspect of the yacht, with the elegance of larger yachts.
The deck house and hull sides are well proportioned, the "male" bow and shape of windshields guarantee elegance, harmony and equilibrium.

As a result of prolonged study, all details permit maximum comfort in a yacht able to navigate world wide oceans.
For example, the creation of a huge living space on the flying bridge, with the crane positioned over the wheel house, permits a forward location for the tender, in order to have a lower baricenter of the yacht during long cruises, or to leave the forward garage-tender free for use as a pool.

Furthermore, a large mooring platform is furnished to avoid disturbance for guests.

The living room has ample glazed windows which provide maximum daylight. The galley, on the main deck, function as a American bar, but may be closed to isolate cooking odors.
The ample dining and living areas are logically separated.

Under deck, from the stern, near the platform, there is diving storage.
Proceeding forward, the engine room, a crew area with galley and dinette, two double cabins and a common head.
The full beamed owners' cabin has a king size bed, walk-in closet, a large fridge room and a day toilette.
Two guest cabins are furnished with either a green bed or twin beds, whit guest head.
The VIP cabin includes a king-size bed, walk-in closet and private head.
A crew cabin and chain locker are at extreme forward.
All the interior layout have double glass openable ports and are isolated in order to guarantee privacy and disturbance from the engine room.

The propulsive system is of the latest technology, with electric engines and electronic control-derived from military technologies, supported by traditional diesel engines consent an excellent performance:
- Over than 4000 nautical miles at 10 knots with diesel electric propulsion
- 16 knots of maximum continuative speed with diesel propulsion
- 18 knots of maximum speed with booster function (combination of diesel propulsion + electric propulsion)
- 5 hours of range at 8 knots in complete silence, with zero emission of pure electric propulsion thanks to last generation of litio batteries.

The yacht is unsinkable thanks to 4 watertight compartments.

The twin ZF POD azimuthal transmission, consents the best propulsion with least consumption; this solution also permits easy maneuvers minimizing hydrodynamic loss caused by rudders and shafts, or by turbulence caused by the bow-thruster.
Comfort during anchorage and cruising is guaranteed by a gyroscopic stabilizer, in order to maximize performance and consumption.
To obtain light displacement, the construction is aluminum, or compost of Kevlar with carbon reinforcements.

The yacht is classified CE by RINA Malta Cross e Green +.
