The project

The K73 is a semi-custom yacht, constructed completely in full carbon, in order to obtain the top performance in regatta, while offering extremely comfortable interiors.

The hull is deigned without compromise, with a draft of 3.5 mt. and 274 sqm of sail area, thus guaranteeing speed in regatta.

The interior layout offers luxury, design and spacious living areas.

HULL

The hull is built in composite material as a sandwich structure.
Core: in CORE-CELL, linear structural foam, vacuum bagged to obtain maximum bondage.
The hull will be reinforced with floors and longitudinal girders along the bottom, and by stringers in all the sides.
Furthermore, the hull will be reinforced in way of the chain plates, keel, main engine beds, lower rudder bearing, opening transom, bow thrusters, and stern tube.

DECK

The deck is built in composite material as a sandwich structure, while the lamination is obtained through a female mould, using the latest wet laminate or prepeg method.
The core is composed of 80kg/m in closed cell PVC core CORE.CELL, vacuum bagged to obtain maximum bondage.
The high stress areas such as the mast partners, upper rudder bearing and deck hardware are reinforced with unidirectional fibres.

The K73 deck is characterized by two cockpits: the central one is equipped with a folding table, in order to obtain a wide sun bed; the aft cockpit is dedicated to rudder wheels, and manoeuvres.

Even if the deck is flush, the wide lateral windows, with three hatches, guarantee an optimal light in the dinette.
The washboard, built in composite, and with variable geometry, includes in the transom area 2 fairleads, equipped with 2 stainless steel rollers.
The main winch is positioned near the aft companionway and at the centre of the cockpit, thus guaranteeing an optimal control of the main sail, therefore without creating interference with the primary winches.

The steering pedestal has double legs; the console is connected to the pedestals through stainless steel pipes which work not only as a handrail, but also as a rotating pin for the console. This permits the helmsman to choose his preference of orientation.

The garage tender is located in two specially designed twin peaks in the transom, the capacity is for a 2, 60 pneumatic tender, (with the option available in the aft).

The chain locker, equipped with a retractable windless is located in the bow. The anchor functions with an anchor arm, activated from under the hull. This system facilitates the casting of the anchor, as well as the mooring equipment, especially near the forestay.

All of the hinges and locks are in stainless steel and flush, thus to avoid any interference with the sheets.

The deck will be finished in 8mm. teak planks.

INTERIORS

The two principle objects of the internal design for this yacht are simplicity and light throughout the entire living area. In order to emphasize this sensation of space, all of the lower cabinets are inclined, while the upper cabinets are vertical.

All the bulkheads are built in composite material as a sandwich structure, bidirectional carbon fibre with epoxy resin, in order to obtain a very light and stiff yacht.

Since K73 is a semi-custom yacht, there are two different versions for the internal layout. One is designed exclusively for the owner, while the other is studied for charter or regatta. In either version, the owners always have full height, comfort and privacy, because the crew area remains isolated. Eventually, if the owner should choose a stern cabin, the head could be furnished with a bathtub.

The galley is equipped with:

The eventual instalment of a washing machine, or dishwasher, is available upon request.

SAILING PLAN

The carbon mast passes through the deck with three aerodynamic spreaders, with 20deg, 9/10 assembled. The carbon boom is “park avenue”, with stainless steel tie rod shrouds, an optional PBO, and splitted backstay.
